CarpeDatum Consulting helped resolve a number
of performance issues related to several components in the existing OLAP
system including; server hardware, software upgrades, inefficient
architecture, increased WAN usage, end-user training, and large file
transfers. CarpeDatum Consulting worked closely with AT&T to design a
solution that increased system performance, simplified maintenance, and
provided several enhanced capabilities. These changes also increased the
overall usefulness and usability of the system. By converting the existing
cube structure from an accounting-based architecture into an OLAP-based
configuration, the solution is now tuned for planning, analytics, and
"what-if" analysis. Finally, comprehensive end-user training enabled
analysts perform their tasks more efficiently and effectively as well as
allowing power-users to maintain the integrity of the system.
